讲座主要介绍和分析了东南亚地区的华人教育史以及未来面临的挑战。具体包括五个历史阶段：1.殖民时期的华人教育，2.1911年后的华人教育，3.1949年后的华人学校，4.1975年后的华人教育，5.新世纪的华人教育。

顾长永，台湾中山大学中山学术研究所教授，美国俄亥俄州立大学政治学博士。现任台湾中山大学中国与亚太区域研究所教授兼所长,国科会专题研究计划初审委员，《问题与研究》、《台湾政治学刊》、《国家发展研究》等有审查制度的学术期刊之论文审查委员。研究领域包括：政治发展理论、东南亚政府与制度、国际组织、亚太区域研究、比较政党研究。
